Roomie Weekend 2009

Over Spring Break, I had my 4th annual Roomie Weekend with my college roommates.  After last year's jaunt to Chicago, this year they all came to DFW and stayed at my house.  We had a FANTASTIC, action-packed weekend.

We went and ate lunch at Chef Point Cafe right by my house.  It is a gourmet chef who couldn't get a loan to open a restaurant, so he got a loan to open a gas station and put his restaurant in the convenience store!  It was on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives this past weekend so it was cool to get to eat at it before the show aired!

Front row: Deborah, Lindsay, Lindsay's sister Melanie.  Back: Nichole, Me
Then we went to the Grapevine Chocolate Festival.  That's right.  A chocolate festival!  You went through booths and got samples of all different kinds of chocolates from different places. Sooo good and I pretty much made myself sick.

Later Saturday night, we went to Pete's Piano Bar.  We went there on the 1st annual Roomie Weekend (which was also in Fort Worth) so everyone wanted to make a repeat.  From there we saw Aisha Tyler at the Improv and got to sit on the front table right by the stage!  Aisha Tyler is the girl who played Charlie on Friends and was on Ghost Whisperer and was really funny.

Lindsay is not in this picture....she fell asleep during the show (it had been a LONG day!) and was too embarrassed to meet her!!

We topped the weekend off with Sunday brunch at Blue Mesa.  It was yummy!  I look forward to this weekend all year long and it never disappoints!  These are three friends that I am going to be close to for the rest of my life and that makes me so happy. :)

Halloween Recap

It's 6:45pm and has already been pitch black outside for the past hour. That makes me sad. I don't know what I'd do if I lived in Sweden or Alaska or another one of those places where it is dark pretty much 24/7 in the winter!!

But on to the important stuff...Halloween! I've been so busy this year, I actually forgot it was coming. But my cousin, Allyson invited me to a party with some of her friends on Friday night. Then she started talking about dressing up and I was like "Why would we dress up?" That was the first time I realized it was Halloween!

So I made a quick trip to Academy after work on Friday and did a really pathetic transformation into camo-girl for the night. Ally channeled some 80's Madonna, and we headed off to The Glass Cactus for the Spazmatics Halloween Bash. Spazmatics are an awesome 80's band that I have been to probably 10-15 times (for example...here and here). It was the perfect Halloween activity - everyone had a great time just dancing and hanging out and they put on a really fun show. We felt like we were at the Halloween party out of Hocus Pocus with everyone dressed up and dancing to a live band. :) Is it sad I set my holiday expectations from a kids movie?

And now...pictures. ;) Starting with me, Ally, and her friend Anastasia (with the Spazmatics in the background!)

I incldued this one for the full effect of Allyson's outfit. Ha!

No Halloween party is complete without Uncle Fester and his (working) lightbulb!

Asian Michael Phelps and Shark. This guy had some SERIOUS self esteem to be able to walk around in a speedo all night!

We all had such a great time! Thanks for a great Halloween, Allyson! :)

Out of evil (the writer's strike) comes some good....

Thanks to Holly, I now have something to majorly look forward to! You MUST click on this banner. Watch the preview, then read the master plan (there is a button underneath the preview if you scroll down a bit.) And yes, that is Neil Patrick Harris.
