Another Open Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

I appreciate your quick response to my letter. I'd love to answer your follow up questions, but first I need a little more information.

Could you please define what you mean by "good"?

Thanks again!
Emily

An Open Letter to Santa Claus

Dear Santa,

Here’s the deal. I’m looking for 2008’s must-have, hard to find item: The Good Single Man. Tall. Handsome. Funny. I’d really prefer the Premium Model (you know…the one that comes with at least $150K annual income), but I’d be more than happy with the Standard Model too. I thought I was going to be able to find one, but some lady actually pushed me out of the way last week to grab the last one for her daughter!

I know, you tend to focus most of your energy on the <10 age group and I applaud that. They are definitely deserving. But you should know that I have been watching a LOT of Hallmark Christmas Movies this year. I have seen that you have a place in your heart for the single women (must remind you of the first time you met Mrs. Claus. How sweet!) and admit it…you really like showing up that snotty little midget Cupid who prances around in February like he’s king of the world. I heard he actually used to work for you til he decided he was "too cool for the Claus!" What an attitude!

I know you’ve got the ability to give me what I want for Christmas this year, so I’d really appreciate it if you’d stop by and help me out. I'm sure you’re a little overbooked on Christmas Eve, so I’ll even take my present late…just as long as its here by Midnight on New Years. :)

Thanks again Santa,
Emily

What does this say about me?

I have a quick links bar set up on my laptop so I can have one click access to my favorite websites. Here is a screenshot

In case you can't read them, here they are from left to right:

1) Myspace.com. I haven't checked myspace in at least six months and haven't updated my page in much longer than that.

2) Gmail. My lifeline. I check this email obsessively. Legitimate link.

3) TCU Mail. I stopped checking this about 2 months after I graduated. My account got shut down one year after I graduated. It's been shut down for 8 months now.

4) Sabre Webmail. Work. Only email I check more than Gmail...second legitimate link.

5) Ryan's Blog. The first blog I really followed of a good family friend. He stopped blogging and actually deleted his blog at least a year ago, maybe longer.

6) Woot One Day, One Deal. I haven't checked to see what the deal of the day is in probably a year and half.

So now for the 2 big questions:
1) what does it say about me that of my self-proclaimed 6 most important links, only two of them are actually legitimate?

2) What does it say about me that instead of taking this 10 minutes to delete the links and replace them with real ones, I would rather make a screenshot and blog about it, showing how truly lazy I am?

My First Blog Award

So after three years of blogging, I've finally gotten my first award! Happy day for all!! Okay, maybe not for all, but definitely for me. :)

I am supposed to recite the below and then pass this fantastic award onto eight other bloggers who make me smile every time I read what they have to say. Thanks Ginny for thinking of me!

"This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

My awardees are:
- Megan at Mookarama
- Cousin Trey (who should update more often!)
- Bonniebee Wester
- Courtney B
- Kristen
- Courtney N
- Mag, Maisy, and Weaver (it's private. no use posting a link. Love ya Mags!)
- Holly in NYC (private too. Keep out!)

More substantial posts to come soon! Including (but not limited to) My first pair of cowboy boots, recipe for a christmas movie, and maybe (just maybe) an actual recipe or two.
